Muzeo Museum’s TrashARTist Sustainable Art Challenge

As executive director of the Muzeo Museum and Cultural Center in Anaheim, California, Dan Finley leads an institution that serves a community purpose. One of the annual offerings of the museum Dan Finley guides is the TrashARTist Sustainable Art Challenge. This highly anticipated event has a focus on zero-waste recycling and encourages students to recycle materials they find around them.

Open to students in the 3rd through 12th grades, the event requires supervision by an adult advisor or educator. Another key requirement is that the works be composed of more than half recycled materials. With submission deadlines at the end of the year, winners are honored at an awards ceremony and expo in early April. A public exhibition of noteworthy artwork by participants is also held at the same time.

Reflecting the sustained success of the TrashARTist challenge, the Muzeo Museum recently initiated a Wearable TrashARTist Challenge for college students. To learn more about the event and apply online visit www.muzeo.org.
